The newly announced producer and planning prices provide an early indication of the incentives likely to influence planting decisions during the 2026/27 agricultural season.

The Government has approved producer and planning prices for winter wheat, maize, traditional grains, soya bean and sunflower. While the announcement primarily serves as a pricing reference, it also provides an indication of the crops policymakers see as strategically important for food security and agricultural production.

For producers, agribusinesses and financiers, the prices offer an early benchmark for evaluating crop budgets, expected revenues and investment decisions ahead of the coming season. The relative pricing of crops may also influence how land, capital and inputs are allocated across different value chains.

Commodity Price (USD/MT)
Winter Wheat531.93
Maize & Traditional Grains432.00
Soya Bean660.95
Sunflower826.19

Among the announced crops, sunflower received the highest indicative planning price, followed by soya bean, wheat and maize. Whether these prices ultimately influence planting intentions will depend on input costs, market conditions and farmers’ expectations regarding profitability.
